GMOs, Climate & Energy on the agenda of ENVI Council

The first Environment Council (ENVI), chaired by Greek Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Yannis Maniatis, is taking place in Brussels, on 3 March 2014.  The Council will hold a public exchange of views on the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2001/18/EC as regards the possibility for the Member States to restrict or prohibit the cultivation of GMOs in their territory.

Other items on the agenda include: 

- A public debate on a recent Commission Communication on “A policy framework for climate and energy in the period from 2020 to 2030”.

- Greening the European Semester

The meeting begins at 11:30 (CET). A press conference will follow.
