Greek Presidency welcomes ACP-EU 27th Joint Parliamentary Assembly (Strasbourg 17-19.3.2014)

The Greek Presidency will welcome in Strasbourg on 17-19 March 2014 the 27th Joint Parliamentary Assembly between the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States on the one hand and the European Union on the other.

On the sidelines of the Assembly, on Sunday, March 16, the Greek Presidency will organize a workshop on “supporting private sector development and promoting investments in renewable energy sources in ACP countries.” On the same day, at 20:30, the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis, and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Kyriakos Gerontopoulos, will host a reception in honor of the members of the Assembly. On Monday, March 17, at 11:00, the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament will address the opening session of the Assembly. On Tuesday, March 18, at 09.00, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kyriakos Gerontopoulos, will speak at the Assembly on the following theme: “renewable energy sources and climate change - relevant Greek experience”. An exchange of views with the members of the Assembly will follow. On Wednesday, March 19, at 09:00, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kyriakos Gerontopoulos, will represent the HR/VP, Baronesses Catherine Ashton and the Council of the European Union and deliver a statement of the Council before the Assembly. Subsequently, Mr. Gerontopoulos will answer the written questions, submitted to the Council by the members of the Assembly. A catch-the-eye discussion will follow. On the same day, at 15:00, there will be a summary report from the Sunday’s workshop.
