Greek Presidency to represent the EU at the G20 meeting in Sydney (21-23 February)

The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting on 21-23 February in Sydney is the first G20 Finance meeting of 2014 where the Council is represented by the Greek Presidency. The EU is also represented by the European Commission and the European Central Bank. Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Christina Papaconstantinou, heads the Presidency delegation.

The meeting covers issues related to the global economy, investment and infrastructure, growth, IMF reform, financial regulation and taxation.

The terms of reference that set out the EU’s priorities for the G20 Ministerial and Deputy meetings were approved at the ECOFIN meeting of 11 February chaired by the Greek Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras.

The Greek Presidency will contribute to the formulation of the EU’s common position on G20 priority issues, such as economic growth and job creation, financing of long-term investments and tax transparency.
