Minister for Rural Development and Food A. Tsaftaris to present the priorities of the Greek Presidency to the competent EP Committees (21-22.01.2014)

Minister for Rural Development and Food, Prof. Athanassios Tsaftaris, will be in Brussels on 21 and 22 January 2014 to present to the AGRI, PECH and ENVI Committees of the European Parliament the priorities of his Ministry during the Greek Presidency.

On 21 January, the presentation to the COM AGRI will focus on CAP reform delegated acts, promotion of agricultural products, schemes for the distribution of agricultural products in schools, a revised fruit and vegetable regime, organic farming, alignment to the Lisbon Treaty, the prospects of the dairy sector, as well as island farming.

On 22 January, the presentation to the COM PECH will focus on the finalization of EMFF (European Maritime and Fisheries Fund), the task force for the multi-annual plans, the discard ban proposal regulation, the Deep seas and fishing authorization regulation, as well as the alignment of some regulations to the Lisbon Treaty. On the same day (22 January) the Minister, after a short presentation regarding the CAP and CFP reforms, will discuss, before the COM ENVI, the package “better animal and plant health for a safer food chain”.
