ICRI 2014 – A conference with a view to the future...

The 2nd International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI 2014) is taking place at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre on 2-4 April 2014, in the framework of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The conference is organised by the European Commission and the Greek General Secretariat of Research & Technology (Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs) with the organisational support of the “Athena” Research and Innovation Center.

New rules to facilitate damage claims for antitrust law violations

The Committee of Permanent Representatives endorsed (26 March) an agreement between the Greek Presidency of the Council and European Parliament representatives laying down new rules aimed at facilitating damage claims by victims of antitrust violations. The new directive will harmonise and ensure the effective enforcement of antitrust damages rules within the EU, thereby allowing the victims of a cartel to receive full compensation for both the actual loss suffered and for lost profits.

Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce is a type of industry where the buying and selling of products or services is conducted over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management and internet marketing. Modern electronic commerce typically uses the World Wide Web; however, e-commerce may also encompass a wider range of technologies such as e-mail, mobile devices, social media, and regular telephones.
